I was having one of those, lost in thought moments where I know what I was doing but also...didnt. It was all over the silly thing a store owner told me when buying apples. The man looked deep into my eyes and said, "You need anything else?" Yes I know, you may say, "He was just asking!". That may be the case but, the look he gave me when asking that haunts me still to this hour. When I heard a branch snap I summoned my sword and jumped behing a tree. Though i knew it wouldnt help, I felt comfort in having something between the noise and myself. Just when I started to feel safe again I hearm another branch snap, but this time directly in front of me.
I stalked forward, towards my target. Following him for several days, I could tell this unicorn was obviously against my cause. He met with known enemies of the south, including a rogue phoenix and well to do smuggler. I continued to creep forward until a twig snapped and my body tensed. He jumped behind a tree and I took another step forward, which was accompanied by another twig snapping. Fed up with sneaking, I lit my hand aflame, dowsed an arrow, notched it in my bow, drew back the string, and let it fly; all happening in two fluid motions.
